Noida:
The Golden Goal Cup Open Football Tournament commenced at the Institute of Management Studies (IMS), Noida, located in Sector-62. The three-day tournament has brought together 30 teams representing schools, colleges, sports academies, sports clubs, and corporate organizations. On the opening day, matches were played among 18 teams.

The tournament has been organized to encourage students and young players to actively engage in sports, promote physical fitness, and strengthen team spirit. A large number of students, players, and sports enthusiasts were present during the inaugural matches.
National spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party for economic affairs, Gopal Krishna Agarwal, attended the event as the chief guest. The programme was also attended by IMS President Rajeev Kumar Gupta, Vice President Chirag Gupta, Director General Vikas Dhawan, Sports Coordinator Reena Massey, faculty members, and students.
During the inaugural session, the institute administration welcomed the players and encouraged them to compete with discipline and sportsmanship. Speakers highlighted the role of sports in shaping character, discipline, and leadership qualities among students.
Addressing the gathering, Rajeev Kumar Gupta stated that sports play a vital role in student life. Participation in sports not only enhances physical well-being but also develops teamwork, resilience, and leadership skills. He encouraged players to compete with integrity and respect for the game.
Gopal Krishna Agarwal said that sports serve as a powerful tool to guide youth in a positive direction. Sports help inculcate discipline, confidence, and the ability to face challenges, which are essential for success in all walks of life. He added that sports are emerging as a viable career option while also contributing to the vision of a healthy India.
Chirag Gupta emphasized that sports are an integral part of education at IMS Noida. Through sports activities, students learn dedication, discipline, and leadership, which prepare them for future professional challenges. He reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to holistic student development through academics and co-curricular activities.
Vikas Dhawan stated that students should balance academics with sports participation. Sports contribute significantly to mental well-being and open avenues for career opportunities in the sports sector.
Sports Coordinator Reena Massey informed that a total of 30 teams are participating in the three-day football tournament. On the first day, MUIT defeated Jaipuria College 5-2, JMS Academy beat Galgotia College 2-0, JSS College defeated Saurya FC 2-0, DG Warriors overcame Hindon FC 10-2, Symbiosis defeated Milan FC 3-1, Golden FC beat Muzaffarnagar United 5-2, and Delhi Warriors registered a 6-0 victory against Himalayan FC.
Further matches will be played over the next two days. Organizers stated that the tournament aims to strengthen sports culture among youth and provide a competitive platform for emerging football talent.
