New Delhi, 28 Aug : Foxconn founder Terry Gou has announced his interest in contesting Taiwan’s presidential election. He has announced that he would contest as an independent candidate. Terry has failed in two attempts to become the President.
Gou pledged to fix ties with China and added that he would not allow Taiwan to become the next Ukraine.. Gou needs 290,000 voters to become President of Taiwan. With Gou, the sitting Vice-president Lai Ching-te is also in the race. A leader of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party Lai Ching is considered to be the strongest candidate. Gou is the founder and CEO of the biggest electronic manufacturing company and supplier to Apple. Gou resigned from Foxconn in 2016 to enter politics through Kuomintang and contested the presidential elections. He later resigned from the party in 2019. In 2022, he again contested the elections and lost.
