Former United States President Donald Trump recently shared insights into his wife Melania Trump’s reaction following the dramatic and violent incident at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. During the rally, Mr. Former US President Donald Trump was the target of an assassination attempt by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. The attack resulted in Mr. Former US President Donald Trump being struck in the ear, with visible blood on his face. The shooter, along with a bystander, was killed, and two spectators sustained critical injuries.
In an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Mr. Former US President Donald Trump was asked about Melania’s initial response to the incident. He revealed that Melania was watching the events unfold live on television. “She was watching live. It was all over the place, it was on television,” Mr. Former US President Donald Trump stated. He further described his conversation with her, noting that she found it difficult to speak about the traumatic event.
Mr. Former US President Donald Trump reflected on Melania’s emotional response, interpreting her inability to talk about the incident as a sign of her deep affection for him. “So what was your feeling,” he recalled asking her. “She can’t really even talk about it. Which is OK, because that means she likes me or she loves me. Let’s say if she could talk about it freely, that would be, I’m not so sure which is better but she either likes or loves me, that’s nice.”
In a separate statement on X (formerly Twitter), Melania Trump condemned the gunman, describing him as a “monster.” She expressed her profound shock and the impact of witnessing the attack on her husband. “A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine attempted to ring out Donald’s passion — his laughter, ingenuity, love of music, and inspiration,” Melania Trump said.
She continued, “When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, I realized my life, and Barron’s life, were on the brink of devastating change,” referring to the couple’s 18-year-old son. Melania also extended her gratitude to the Secret Service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their lives to protect her husband.
