In anticipation of the farmers’ protest in Delhi on Monday, the Noida Police have issued a comprehensive traffic advisory, outlining several restrictions and diversions to ensure smooth traffic flow. The protest, organized by the Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP), is aimed at pressing five key demands, primarily focused on securing compensation and benefits for farmers, including a legal guarantee on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) under the newly implemented agricultural laws.
The farmers, led by BKP leader Sukhbir Khalifa, will initially gather at the Maha Maya flyover in Noida around noon before marching towards the Parliament complex in Delhi. As the protest could cause significant disruption in the region, Noida Police have proactively set in place a series of traffic measures to prevent congestion and ensure public safety.
In a bid to minimize the impact on commuters, heavy vehicles will be prohibited from using key routes such as the Yamuna Expressway and the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. Alternate routes have been identified for vehicles traveling in and around Noida. For instance, traffic from Chilla Border to Greater Noida should use the Sector 14-A flyover, Golchakkar Chowk, Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk, and Jhunjhupura Chowk. For those traveling from DND Border to Delhi, the Film City flyover, Sector-18, and Elevated Road are recommended. Meanwhile, for those traveling from Kalindi Border to Delhi, the Mahamaya flyover and Sector-37 should be utilized.
Additionally, vehicles traveling from Greater Noida to Delhi should consider using the Charkha roundabout, Kalindi Kunj, or the Hajipur underpass via Sector-51 and Model Town. Traffic on the Yamuna Expressway should take the exit at Jewar toll and proceed via Khurja and Jahangirpur. The Peripheral Expressway users are advised to take exits at Dadri or Dasna instead of Sirsa.
The Noida Police have also made several recommendations for the public to avoid unnecessary disruptions. They suggest using the Delhi Metro for a hassle-free commute, given the traffic diversions. Commuters are encouraged to check traffic updates and advisories before heading out. Emergency vehicles will be given priority during these diversions, and a traffic helpline at 9971009001 has been set up to assist with real-time updates.
Security arrangements have been tightened at all border points between Noida and Delhi, with increased monitoring and rigorous checks in place to maintain law and order. In addition to Monday’s protest, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher has announced another march on December 6, signaling that the ongoing unrest is likely to continue in the coming days.
