The phenomenal box office run of Dhurandhar has entered a new phase, with theatres in Mumbai and Pune introducing midnight and late-night shows following overwhelming audience demand, as the Ranveer Singh-led film stormed past the ₹300 crore milestone within just nine days of release.
Released on December 5, Dhurandhar has emerged as one of the most dominant theatrical successes of 2025, defying the usual second-week slowdown and continuing to register packed houses across major centres. Even after more than a week in cinemas, occupancy levels remain exceptionally high, prompting exhibitors to expand showtimes well beyond conventional hours. The response reflects not only strong word-of-mouth but also sustained interest in large-scale action dramas led by star power and high production values.
In Mumbai, a fresh midnight show was added at 12:45 am, while Pune followed with a 12:20 am screening. Encouraged by rapid ticket sales, several theatres went further, opening additional late-night slots at 12:50, 1:25, 2:10, 2:30, 3:00, 3:30, 3:35, 4:05 and even 4:10 am. Such an extensive spread of post-midnight screenings is rare outside festival weekends or opening days, underlining the exceptional momentum Dhurandhar continues to enjoy.
Midnight shows signal extraordinary audience demand across Mumbai and Pune
The decision to introduce midnight shows came after repeated instances of shows running housefull across prime-time slots. Theatre owners reported that despite increased ticket prices and the film entering its second weekend, audience turnout showed no signs of fatigue. Viewers queued up late into the night, with online booking platforms reflecting near-capacity sales minutes after the new showtimes went live.
Mumbai and Pune, traditionally strong markets for big-ticket Hindi films, have played a crucial role in sustaining Dhurandhar’s numbers. Multiplex chains and single-screen theatres alike have benefited from the surge, with some exhibitors reshuffling schedules of other releases to accommodate the growing demand. Industry observers note that such extended screening hours usually indicate repeat audiences as well as strong pull among younger viewers willing to attend films at unconventional timings.
The film’s genre and scale have also contributed to its theatrical appeal. Designed as a big-screen spectacle with action-heavy sequences and an espionage-driven narrative, Dhurandhar has drawn crowds seeking immersive cinema experiences rather than waiting for digital release. The addition of midnight shows has effectively turned the film’s second weekend into an extension of its opening frenzy, a pattern seen only with a handful of major blockbusters in recent years.
Record-breaking collections place Dhurandhar among 2025’s biggest films
On its ninth day in theatres, Dhurandhar recorded its highest single-day collection so far, earning approximately ₹53 crore on Saturday. This surge pushed the film’s total box office collection to around ₹303 crore, officially placing it in the ₹300 crore club. Trade analysts expect Sunday’s figures to climb even higher, given the spike in footfalls and expanded show schedules.
The film’s day-wise collection reflects a rare upward trajectory deep into its theatrical run. Opening with ₹28.60 crore on December 5, the film steadily built momentum, collecting ₹33.10 crore on December 6 and ₹44.80 crore on December 7. Although collections dipped slightly during the early weekdays, the numbers remained robust, with daily earnings hovering close to the ₹30 crore mark. The sharp jump to ₹53 crore on December 13 marked a turning point, confirming that audience interest has intensified rather than tapered off.
With its current total, Dhurandhar has become the fifth highest-grossing film of 2025. It now sits behind Kantara Chapter 1 at ₹850 crore, Chhaava at ₹797 crore, Saiyaara at ₹579 crore, and Coolie at ₹514 crore. However, trade circles suggest that if the current pace continues, Dhurandhar could challenge at least one of these titles in overall lifetime collections, especially with the holiday season and limited major competition ahead.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, best known for Uri: The Surgical Strike, the film marks another ambitious chapter in his career. Ranveer Singh headlines the project as an intelligence agent who goes undercover on a high-risk mission in Pakistan, delivering a performance that blends physical intensity with emotional restraint. Sara Arjun stars opposite him in the lead role, while the supporting cast includes Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R. Madhavan, each adding weight to the ensemble.
The combination of a politically charged storyline, slick action choreography, and a strong cast has resonated widely with audiences, translating into sustained box office dominance. As midnight shows continue to be added and theatres remain packed, Dhurandhar appears poised to extend its record-breaking run further in the days ahead.
