Women voters in Delhi have played a decisive role in shaping the outcome of the 2025 assembly elections, outnumbering men in the overall average turnout as well as in 41 out of 70 constituencies. Data from the Election Commission of India analyzed by News18 shows that while the overall voter turnout stood at 60.54 percent, the participation of women was slightly higher at 60.92 percent compared to men’s 60.21 per cent.
The capital went to polls on Wednesday, and the final voting percentage was released on Friday evening. Mustafabad recorded the highest overall voter turnout at 69.01 per cent, followed by Seelampur at 68.71 percent, Gokalpur at 68.29 percent, Babarpur at 65.86 per cent, Rohtas Nagar at 65.3 percent, Trilokpuri at 65.28 percent, Seemapuri at 65.25 percent, and Matia Mahal at 65.11 per cent. Mehrauli (53.02 percent) and Model Town (53.62 percent) had the lowest voter turnout among all constituencies. Other constituencies with low turnout included RK Puram (54.01 percent), Malviya Nagar (54.07 percent), Kasturba Nagar (54.15 percent), Karol Bagh (54.55 per cent), Kalkaji (54.59 percent), Greater Kailash (54.92 percent), and Okhla (54.96 percent).
Women voter turnout was particularly high in several constituencies, with Gokalpur leading at 68.60 percent, surpassing the total voter turnout of 68.29 percent and men’s turnout of 68.02 percent. Other constituencies where women’s turnout exceeded 65 percent included Mustafabad (68.52 percent), Seelampur (67.02 percent), Trilokpuri (65.92 percent), Babarpur (65.39 percent), Seemapuri (65.04 percent), and Karawal Nagar (65.01 percent). Model Town registered the lowest female turnout at 54.11 percent. Six constituencies recorded female voter turnout below 55 percent, including Mehrauli (54.43 percent), Karol Bagh (54.44 percent), Kasturba Nagar (54.53 percent), Malviya Nagar (54.66 percent), and Greater Kailash (54.92 percent).
Okhla showed the highest gender gap in favor of women, with female voter turnout at 58.27 percent, compared to 52.54 percent for men, despite an overall turnout of 54.96 percent. In contrast, Matia Mahal saw the highest gender gap favoring men, where male turnout was 67.57 percent compared to women’s 62.49 percent. In the New Delhi constituency, where voters determined the fate of Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, women outnumbered men with a turnout of 57.27 percent against 55.66 percent. In Kalkaji, where outgoing chief minister Atishi contested, women’s turnout stood at 56.12 percent, surpassing men’s 53.33 percent.
A total of 41 constituencies recorded higher female voter participation, with 31 of them showing a gap of more than one percentage point. Among these were Okhla, Sangam Vihar, RK Puram, Tughlakabad, Dwarka, Badarpur, Kalkaji, Chhatarpur, Mehrauli, Patparganj, Delhi Cantt, Burari, Vikaspuri, Wazirpur, Adarsh Nagar, Kirari, Badli, New Delhi, Rajinder Nagar, Deoli, Bawana, Kondli, Laxmi Nagar, Nangloi Jat, Mundka, Trilokpuri, Palam, Malviya Nagar, Karawal Nagar, Jangpura, Matiala, Model Town, Moti Nagar, Sultanpur Majra, Bijwasan, Kasturba Nagar, Timarpur, Gokalpur, Narela, Uttam Nagar, and Patel Nagar.
On the other hand, men outnumbered women in 28 constituencies, including Vishwas Nagar, Ghonda, Gandhi Nagar, Karol Bagh, Ambedkar Nagar, Najafgarh, Seemapuri, Rithala, Janakpuri, Chandni Chowk, Babarpur, Rajouri Garden, Mustafabad, Mangolpuri, Shalimar Bagh, Hari Nagar, Tri Nagar, Madipur, Shahdara, Tilak Nagar, Ballimaran, Shakur Basti, Rohini, Sadar Bazar, Rohtas Nagar, Seelampur, Krishna Nagar, and Matia Mahal.
The high participation of women voters in the 2025 Delhi assembly elections underscores their increasing role in shaping electoral outcomes. As results unfold, their impact on the final verdict will be crucial in determining the city’s political landscape.
