The Delhi Government has approved the release of ₹68,722.47 lakh as the third and final installment of the Basic Tax Assignment (BTA) to local bodies for the financial year 2025–26. The allocation is aimed at strengthening civic services, infrastructure, and essential public utilities across the National Capital.

Out of the approved amount, ₹67,312.72 lakh has been allocated to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), ₹573.39 lakh to the Delhi Cantonment Board (DCB), and ₹836.36 lakh to the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).

Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Government remains fully committed to making local bodies financially empowered and institutionally strong. The release of the third and final BTA installment will significantly support MCD, NDMC, and DCB in enhancing civic amenities, infrastructure development, and delivery of essential public services.

The minister emphasized that the released funds must be utilized strictly in accordance with guidelines issued by the central and state governments and only for public interest, essential civic services, and developmental works. He also directed officials to ensure complete financial discipline, transparency, and prudence in the utilization of funds.

Ashish Sood further stated that the Delhi Government’s objective is to provide timely, transparent, and accountable financial support to local bodies so that improved civic services can effectively reach every citizen of Delhi.

He also informed that to make Delhi cleaner, dust-free, and to strengthen solid waste management systems, the Delhi Government has provided a one-time financial assistance of ₹500 crore to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Additionally, to ensure uninterrupted sanitation services, MCD will receive a regular annual assistance of ₹300 crore in the coming years.

The minister clarified that this funding will be utilized for waste management, operation of sanitation services, clearing pending dues, waste collection from contractor-less areas, and minor road repair works aimed at reducing dust pollution. He stressed that the utilization of funds will be strictly monitored and limited to approved purposes only.
