New Delhi, February , 2026 – Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on February 18, 2026, inaugurated and laid the foundation for multiple Delhi Jal Board (DJB) water and sewer projects worth over ₹2,100 crore at Ramleela Ground in Todapur, West Delhi. She emphasized that the government works to complete projects on time, not just make announcements, and instructed officials to ensure high-quality completion within deadlines for citizens’ benefit.

The Chief Minister highlighted that providing clean drinking water and modern sewage systems in the capital is a top priority. The newly launched projects will enhance water supply capacity and play a vital role in maintaining a clean and healthy environment in Delhi. Areas suffering from long-standing water and sewer issues will now receive permanent solutions.
She stated that upon completion, sewage treatment capacity will increase, untreated water will no longer flow into the Yamuna, and citizens will receive regular and sufficient drinking water. Strengthening water and sewer systems is essential to transform Delhi into a world-class city, and the government is working in mission mode to ensure every household receives clean water and modern sewer connections.
Delhi Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said Delhi is entering a new phase of development. The government is continuously working to modernize and strengthen water and sewer services. He added that nationwide development initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership are now visibly impacting the capital.

The CM announced that the DJB’s amnesty scheme will now include commercial consumers and is extended until August. Over 3.52 lakh consumers have benefited so far, receiving relief of nearly ₹1,400 crore by waiving penalties, interest, and surcharges, while DJB collected ₹484 crore in revenue. Commercial and non-domestic users will now receive 100% waiver on late payment surcharges, potentially generating ₹285.2 crore for DJB.
Inaugurated projects include Neelothi-1 STP capacity increased from 40 MGD to 60 MGD (cost ₹373.21 crore), Pappankalan Phase-1 STP from 20 MGD to 30 MGD (₹225.28 crore), and replacement of old pipelines in Haiderpur WW-II (₹50.72 crore) and Haiderpur WW-I (₹19.44 crore).
Foundation-laying projects include Chandrawal WTP Water Supply Improvement Package-3 (₹990 crore) and Package-4 (₹268.41 crore). Household sewer connections will be installed in Begumpur, Wazirabad, Ranholah, and Sant Nagar areas (₹58 crore, ₹25.15 crore, ₹34.85 crore, ₹40.21 crore). Molerband STP capacity will increase by 0.67 MGD (₹14.71 crore).
The CM emphasized that these projects are crucial not only for addressing water and sewer issues but also for improving overall sanitation and keeping the Yamuna clean. Officials were instructed to complete all projects on schedule to ensure Delhi residents benefit from improved services.
New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj, Rajendra Nagar MLA Umang Bajaj, several representatives, senior officials, and local residents were present at the event.
