New Delhi | March 17, 2026 — Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta attended the ‘Nari Utsav’ programme at the Nirmal Chhaya Complex, where she highlighted the crucial role of women in nation-building and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to their empowerment.
Women Key Drivers of Viksit Bharat 2047
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that women, through their dedication and selfless service, are leading progress across sectors and contributing significantly toward the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
She noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, women are achieving new milestones across fields—from rural industries to corporate sectors and from governance to the armed forces.
Focus on Safety, Dignity and Self-Reliance
Emphasising the pillars of women empowerment, CM Gupta stated that safety, dignity and self-reliance must be ensured for every woman.
She added that the government is working to create an environment where women feel secure, respected and financially independent.
Major Announcements Expected in Delhi Budget
The Chief Minister announced that the upcoming Delhi Budget (March 24, 2026) will include key initiatives for women and girls.
She highlighted the importance of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and said women will be provided employment and entrepreneurship opportunities through group-based models.
She also stressed expanding platforms like ‘Mahila Haat’ to help women market and sell their products.
Inspection of Nirmal Chhaya Facilities
Following the event, CM Gupta conducted a detailed inspection of the Nirmal Chhaya Complex, including:
- After Care Home for Women
- Balika Grih
- Bal Niketan
She interacted with children, distributed essential items, and reviewed arrangements related to safety, nutrition and care, issuing necessary directions to officials.
Promotion of Women-Centric Initiatives
The Chief Minister visited the Sankalp Hub, showcasing initiatives under Mission Shakti, and reviewed SHG-led activities at ‘Mahila Haat’, including millet-based products.
She also appreciated the WCD-DSEU programme, under which SHG-run canteens at 10 locations have been launched to promote women entrepreneurship.
Strengthening Anganwadi and Child Services
During her visit to ‘Samarth Anganwadi’, she reviewed upgraded infrastructure, health services, and awareness programmes including:
- Preventive health check-ups
- Wellness counselling
- Menstrual hygiene awareness
- She also launched several initiatives, including:
- Compendium of women and child welfare schemes
- WCD newsletter
Juvenile Justice Management Information System (JJMIS) portal
Additionally, she distributed health mix kits to pregnant and lactating mothers and incentives to Anganwadi workers.
‘Give to Gain’ Initiative
Under the ‘Give to Gain’ initiative, the Chief Minister called for public-private partnership to strengthen Anganwadi centres and child care institutions.
This initiative will support:
Installation of sanitary napkin vending machines
Infrastructure upgrades
Expansion of mobile health services
New livelihood opportunities for women and SHGs
Commitment to Inclusive Development
Reaffirming the government’s vision, CM Gupta said that empowering women leads to a stronger society and nation.
She emphasized that the Delhi Government is committed to ensuring safety, support and equal opportunities for women and children, while uplifting vulnerable sections of society.
