India is inching closer to script history today with the soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 on moon’s south polar region.
According to the ISRO release, the ambitious moon mission is set to step on the surface of the moon at 6:40 p.m (IST) today.
Ahead of the landing, G. Madhavan Nair, former chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), expressed his admiration for the mission.
Speaking to media, the former ISRO Chief said, “Everyone is eager for the success of Mission Chandrayaan-3. This mission is going to be one of the most important milestones for planetary exploration.”
Further, delving more about the mission, he informed that the last 20 minutes of soft landings on the lunar surface will be quite challenging.
“The 20 minutes from the lunar orbit to the landing on its surface will be the most challenging moments,” he added.
Moreover, on the other hand, former Professor of Indian Institute of Astrophysics Dr. RC Kapoor too said that the landing of the Chandrayaan-3 will be successful as prescribed.
He said, “ISRO is one of the best space agencies in the world and we hope that we will be successful in soft landing.”
It is pertinent to note that, with the mission’s success today, ISRO will become the fourth agency to soft land on the moon.
