Gangtok, 28 August : Indo-Tibetan Border Police in Sikkim today organized the eighth phase of the job fair in the conference room of the State Tourism Department under the employment fair campaign launched by the Central Government. union Minister of State for Home, Sports, and Youth Affairs Nishith Pramanik attended the programme as the chief guest. State Lok Sabha MP Indra Hong Subba, MLA from Upper Tadong constituency GT Dhungel, DIG SSB Balwant Singh, DIG ITBP Sector Head Quarter Gangtok K.K. Sanjay Kumar, and other dignitaries were present.

As part of the job fair organised in Sikkim, appointment letters were handed over to 104 people today, out of whom seven were from the state of Sikkim. Similarly, appointment letters were also handed over to the youth of West Bengal and Bihar. It is reported that most of the people who have been given appointment letters today are for the Central Armed Police Forces.

Addressing the programme organised in Gangtok, union Minister of State Nishith Pramanik expressed confidence that the youth who start a new life with appointment letters will work sincerely in the service of the country. He said that the employment fair is being organised with the aim of providing direct employment to ten lakh youth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is a beneficial scheme for youth. He congratulated the newly appointed youth and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the implementation of the scheme.

Addressing the media, the union Minister of State expressed confidence that the central government’s target of providing employment to one million youth would be achieved before 2024. Responding to the question of the low participation of Sikkimese youth in job fairs, he said that since the population of Sikkim is smaller and there are other opportunities within the state, there must have been fewer youth from the state in central recruitment. He urged the youth of the state to take advantage of the opportunity, as such opportunities keep coming.
