The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced an extension for the deadline to submit applications for the CBSE Merit Scholarship Schemes under the Single Girl Child Scholarship for 2024. This extension applies to both fresh applications and renewals under the Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme. Students who are eligible for the scholarship now have until February 8, 2025, to submit their online applications, with the school verification deadline set for February 15, 2025.
The Single Girl Child Scholarship is aimed at supporting young women students who are the only child of their parents. This scholarship provides a monthly financial assistance of Rs 500 to eligible students. In addition to the monetary benefits, students must provide their bank details, including their bank name, account number, RTGS/NEFT code, IFSC code, and branch address, to facilitate the scholarship transfer.
The scholarship application process is rigorous, requiring all applications to be signed and verified by the school authorities. Applications that are not signed will be automatically rejected. The required documents for the scholarship include a verified copy of the Class 11 mark sheet, the applicant’s Aadhaar card linked to their bank account, and a verified copy of the bank passbook or a cancelled cheque.
Eligibility for the scholarship includes students who completed their Class 10 in 2024 and are currently enrolled in Class 11 at a CBSE-affiliated school. Additionally, students who received the scholarship in 2023 are eligible to renew their application. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be the only child of their parents and have scored at least 60 percent in the CBSE Class 10 examination.
There are some important stipulations regarding the tuition fee that the scholarship can cover. The tuition fee should not exceed Rs 1,500 per month in Class 10, with a permissible 10 percent annual increase for Classes 11 and 12. For Non-Resident Indian (NRI) students studying abroad, the tuition fee cap is set at Rs 6,000 per month. The scholarship is only available to Indian nationals.
To apply for the scholarship, students need to visit the CBSE official website, select the “Single Girl Child Scholarship X-2024 REG” option, and choose whether they are applying for the fresh application or renewal. After completing the application form and uploading the necessary documents, students can submit their applications. It is important for applicants to download and print a copy of the completed form for their records.
With this extension, the CBSE aims to provide more time for eligible students to take advantage of this valuable scholarship opportunity. This financial assistance is a step towards empowering young women students, providing them with the support they need to continue their education. As the deadline approaches, students are advised to complete their applications promptly and ensure that all the required documents are submitted on time for verification.
