The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has categorically dismissed reports claiming a 15% reduction in the syllabus for Classes 10 and 12 board exams in 2025. In a statement issued on Thursday, CBSE clarified that no such policy decision has been made, labeling the circulating reports as “baseless.” The board emphasized that any updates regarding its policies are disseminated exclusively through its official website or authorized channels.
“The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) would like to clarify that the Board has not issued any such notice or made any changes to the evaluation system or examination policy,” CBSE stated, as quoted by news agency ANI. “No official announcement has been made in this regard. Therefore, such reports are considered baseless.”
The controversy arose after reports surfaced suggesting a syllabus reduction of up to 15% for the 2025 board exams, citing statements allegedly made by CBSE regional officer Vikas Kumar Agrawal. Agrawal was reported to have made the remarks during a school principals’ summit, “Bridging the Gap,” held in Indore. However, CBSE has firmly denied these claims, reiterating that any decision on syllabus changes would be formally communicated.
As of now, the board has not announced any modifications to its examination policies or evaluation criteria for the upcoming academic session. The existing syllabus for Classes 10 and 12 remains unchanged, and students and educators are advised to rely only on official CBSE updates for accurate information.
Meanwhile, CBSE is expected to release the date sheet for the 2025 board exams for Classes 10 and 12 by the end of November. Based on previous trends, the exams are anticipated to commence on February 15, 2025, although the board has yet to issue an official notification confirming the dates. This timeline aligns with the board’s traditional schedule, as observed in prior years.
Students and parents are urged to stay updated through CBSE’s official channels to avoid misinformation. The board’s reaffirmation of its unchanged policies provides clarity amid growing speculation and ensures that students can focus on their preparation without undue confusion.
The CBSE board exams for Classes 10 and 12 are a pivotal milestone for millions of students nationwide. As the academic year progresses, students are advised to continue their studies as per the current syllabus and await further updates directly from CBSE’s official platforms.
