Head coach Gautam Gambhir had demanded to make Morkel the bowling coach. Let us tell you, Gautam Gambhir and Morkel have worked together for IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants. Morkel will replace former Indian coach Paras. Paras’ tenure had already ended, but Morkel could not join Team India on the Sri Lanka tour due to personal reasons. Now Morne Morkel will join the Indian team from the Test series against Bangladesh. Let us tell you, this series starting from 19 September will be Morkel’s first assignment. 2 Tests and 3 T20 matches will be played in it. The first Test will be played in Chennai.

Morkel’s international career is 12 years old

Morne Morkel has played international cricket between 2006 and 2018. During this, he has played 86 Tests, 117 ODIs and 44 T20 International matches. Morkel has been the bowling coach of the Pakistan cricket team. He resigned from the post of bowling coach of the Pakistan team after a disappointing performance in the World Cup 2023. Morkel joined the Pakistani team on a six-month contract in June last year, but he resigned even before the completion of the contract.

However, it is believed that Gautam always wanted to work with Morkel. He believed that South African fast bowler Morkel is very good at bowling. Both the players have also worked together in the IPL, perhaps that is why he wanted Morkel to be a part of the Indian team.
