A major milestone was achieved at the Noida International Airport in Jewar as a calibration flight successfully conducted trials to test the airport’s critical infrastructure systems. The trial, held on Friday, evaluated the functionality of the runway, navigation aids, communication channels, and lighting systems, marking a crucial step toward obtaining the aerodrome license from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

According to airport officials, the calibration flight was conducted by the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to ensure that all airfield systems meet safety and operational standards required for commercial flight operations. The inspection focused on the precision and alignment of Instrument Landing Systems (ILS), runway lighting, and other technical systems essential for safe aircraft operations.

The successful completion of the calibration process indicates that the airport’s airside infrastructure is nearly ready for use. Once the DGCA grants the aerodrome license, the airport will be authorized to commence trial and commercial operations.

Officials stated that this development brings the project closer to its goal of launching the first phase of passenger operations by mid-2026. The Noida International Airport, being developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh government, is envisioned to become India’s largest greenfield airport, serving as a major aviation hub for the National Capital Region (NCR).
