Greater Noida: Reacting sharply to the Union Budget presented in the Lok Sabha, Sudhir Bhati, District President of the Samajwadi Party, expressed strong dissatisfaction, stating that the budget has failed to meet the expectations of the common people who were hoping for relief from rising inflation and unemployment.
Budget Leaves Common People Disappointed
Sudhir Bhati said that the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Lok Sabha has proved to be disappointing for large sections of the population. He remarked that at a time when people across the country were expecting concrete measures to address inflation and joblessness, the budget has not offered any meaningful relief. According to him, the general public had high hopes that the government would announce steps to ease the financial burden on households struggling with rising prices and limited employment opportunities.
He further stated that the budget has completely ignored the concerns of the poor, farmers, labourers, and youth. In his view, these sections form the backbone of the country, yet their needs and challenges have not been adequately addressed. He alleged that there are no substantial provisions in the budget that directly benefit farmers facing rising input costs, labourers dealing with insecure livelihoods, or young people grappling with unemployment and lack of opportunities.
Sudhir Bhati said that instead of focusing on inclusive growth, the budget has ended up disappointing all sections of society. He argued that the promises of development and welfare remain largely on paper, while the real issues affecting everyday life have been sidelined. According to him, the absence of strong measures to control inflation and create jobs reflects a disconnect between the government’s policies and ground realities.
Criticising the intent behind the budget, Sudhir Bhati alleged that the BJP-led government has designed the budget keeping its select close associates and preferred interests in mind. He claimed that the budget prioritises a limited group while neglecting the wider population, thereby deepening economic inequality. He said that such an approach goes against the interests of ordinary citizens who are already under pressure due to increasing living costs and limited income growth.
He added that budgets should aim to provide relief and hope, especially during times of economic stress, but this budget has instead added to the frustration of the people. According to him, the lack of targeted support for vulnerable sections shows that the government has failed to understand the urgency of the situation faced by millions across the country.
Sudhir Bhati also pointed out that youth were particularly disappointed, as there were expectations of concrete announcements on employment generation and skill development. He said that without addressing unemployment, the government cannot claim to be working for long-term economic stability. Similarly, he stated that farmers and workers were expecting measures that would secure their livelihoods, but the budget did not live up to those expectations.
Concluding his reaction, Sudhir Bhati reiterated that the Union Budget has not addressed the core issues of inflation, unemployment, and social welfare. He said that the Samajwadi Party believes this budget has failed to provide relief to the common people and has instead reinforced the perception that the government is out of touch with the needs of the masses.
