Key Initiatives for Agriculture and Allied ActivitiesFinancial Support and Budget Allocation

Key Initiatives for Agriculture and Allied Activities

1. Promoting Sustainable Agriculture

The government is pushing for sustainable farming practices to ensure long-term productivity and environmental health. This includes encouraging organic farming, efficient water management, and improving soil health.

2. Supporting Small Farmers

Small and marginal farmers will get targeted support to increase their productivity and income. This includes financial aid, access to modern technology, and training programs to help them adopt best practices and improve their yields.

3. Expanding Irrigation Facilities

Expanding irrigation infrastructure is a priority to ensure farmers have reliable access to water. Projects like the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) aim to enhance water use efficiency and extend irrigation coverage to more agricultural lands.

4. Boosting Allied Activities

The government is focusing on allied activities such as dairy farming, poultry, fisheries, and horticulture to diversify farmers’ income sources. Initiatives include setting up cold storage facilities, improving supply chain logistics, and providing subsidies for infrastructure development.

5. Strengthening Agricultural Research and Development

Investment in agricultural research and development is crucial for innovation and improvement in farming practices. The government will increase funding for research institutions and promote the development of high-yielding and climate-resilient crop varieties.

6. Enhancing Market Access

Improving market access for farmers is a key goal. This includes developing better infrastructure for transportation and storage, promoting digital marketplaces, and simplifying regulations to make it easier for farmers to sell their produce profitably.

7. Providing Farm Credit and Insurance

The government is committed to making affordable credit more accessible to farmers through schemes like the Kisan Credit Card (KCC). Expanding crop insurance coverage will also help farmers manage risks related to weather and market fluctuations.

8. Promoting Agri-Tech

The integration of technology in agriculture is a major focus. The government aims to promote the use of drones, precision farming tools, and digital platforms to boost productivity and efficiency in farming operations.

Financial Support and Budget Allocation

The government has allocated substantial funds to support these initiatives, ensuring that adequate resources are available for their successful implementation. This financial support will help bridge gaps in infrastructure, provide necessary subsidies, and fund research and development projects.

These efforts are expected to bring significant positive changes to the agricultural sector, benefiting millions of farmers across the country.
