A Border Security Force (BSF) constable was subjected to assault and harassment by a group of Bangladeshi miscreants near the India-Bangladesh border. The incident occurred on June 2, as the constable, identified as Bhole, was performing his duties at an outpost tasked with operating the fence gate.
According to a statement issued by the BSF, the confrontation ensued when a large group of Bangladeshi miscreants illegally crossed the International Border and assembled near the fencing gate with the intention of smuggling sugar. The miscreants verbally abused the BSF constable and resorted to provocative actions, instigating a hostile confrontation.
The situation escalated as the miscreants gheraoed and physically assaulted Constable Bhole, attempting to forcibly drag him towards the Bangladesh side. During the altercation, they also seized the constable’s weapon and radio set.
Despite sustaining grievous injuries from the assault, constable Bhole managed to evade his attackers and escape. The BSF promptly initiated a commandant-level flag meeting with their Bangladeshi counterparts, lodging a formal protest against the incident. Subsequently, the snatched weapon and radio set were returned by Border Guard Bangladesh.
The incident, reported to have transpired in Tripura, underscores the ongoing security challenges along the India-Bangladesh border. BSF reaffirms its commitment to upholding peace and stability in the region and continues to collaborate closely with Border Guard Bangladesh to ensure border security.
Efforts are underway to address the incident and reinforce measures to prevent such occurrences in the future. BSF remains steadfast in its dedication to safeguarding the integrity and sovereignty of the India-Bangladesh border.
