The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is preparing for a massive nationwide awareness campaign titled “Waqf Sudhar Janjagaran Abhiyan” to highlight the benefits of the recently passed Waqf (Amendment) Bill and the Muslim Waqf (Repeal) Bill. Scheduled to run from April 20 to May 5, the campaign is aimed at educating people, especially from the Muslim community, about the socio-economic benefits, transparency, and inclusiveness these reforms promise, while also countering misinformation. The initiative, guided by BJP president JP Nadda, will span across states, districts, and mandals, incorporating digital and grassroots-level outreach.
Campaign Highlights and Grassroots Engagement
According to a party directive, every BJP Member of Parliament (MP) and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) will host at least one interactive session in their constituency. At the state level, the campaign will feature town halls involving Muslim clergy, academicians, women leaders, lawyers, doctors, and influencers from both Muslim and other communities. Special women-centric town halls will also be held in state capitals. Christian community engagement will be fostered through “Isai Sadbhav Meetings.”
At the district level, BJP will conduct “Pramukh Nagarik Samvad” with influential Muslim figures, organize press conferences with multimedia presentations, and hold dialogue sessions with youth via the Yuva Morcha. These programs aim to clarify the provisions of the Waqf Act amendments and associated UMEED Bill, while promoting transparency and communal harmony.
Door-to-Door Outreach and Digital Amplification
At the mandal level, BJP cadres will conduct a door-to-door campaign to personally connect with citizens. Each mandal will also host Mahila Samvad and Muslim Mahila Sampark initiatives to focus on women’s awareness. The digital component will include infographics, testimonials, and vox-pop style videos to reach a wider audience online.
To ensure structured implementation, a national workshop will be held on April 10 at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, followed by state-level workshops from April 15 to 17 and district-level sessions on April 18 and 19. The campaign is being coordinated by a central team led by Dr Radha Mohan Das Agrawal and includes senior party leaders such as Anil Antony, Dr Arvind Menon, and Jamal Siddiqui, who heads BJP’s Minority Morcha.
