During a poll rally in Delhi, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared that the BJP would construct the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple in Mathura and the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, replacing the Gyanvapi Mosque, upon securing 400 seats in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
Himanta Biswa Sarma drew parallels with the construction of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya after the BJP’s victory of 300 seats in the Lok Sabha. He asserted that the party would fulfill its promises of building the Krishna Janmabhoomi and Baba Vishwanath Mandir with an increased mandate.
Critics questioned the need for such a vast mandate, to which Sarma likened it to Sachin Tendulkar’s centuries, emphasizing the party’s commitment to temple construction.
Himanta Biswa Sarma also criticized the Congress, highlighting the lack of discussions on the issue of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK) during its tenure. He expressed confidence that under PM Modi’s leadership, POK would eventually become part of India, citing ongoing protests in the region.
The rally served as a platform for Himanta Biswa Sarma to rally support for the BJP while outlining the party’s vision for religious and territorial issues.
