AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has sharply criticized Pakistan for its ongoing support of terrorism, calling it a “threat to humanity” in the wake of India’s recent counter-terrorism offensive, Operation Sindoor. The Hyderabad MP stressed the urgent need to inform the world about Pakistan’s long history of sponsoring terrorist attacks that have deeply affected India. He highlighted key incidents such as the Kandahar hijacking, the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, and the recent Pahalgam terror attack, underlining the grave dangers Pakistan poses not only to India but to global security.
Highlighting Pakistan’s Terror Legacy
During an interview with the Press Trust of India, Asaduddin Owaisi described how Pakistan-sponsored terrorism began during the regime of former Pakistani President Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq and has continued unabated. He cited a series of brutal attacks including the 2001 Parliament attack, Uri and Pathankot strikes, and the killing of tourists in Reasi and Pahalgam, which collectively signify a persistent threat to humanity. These attacks underscore the scale and longevity of Pakistan’s support for militant groups targeting India.
Operation Sindoor, launched by India on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam attack on April 22 that claimed 26 lives, involved precise strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The operation reportedly eliminated over 100 terrorists, signaling a strong response to Pakistan’s continued use of terror proxies.
Pakistan’s Larger Strategy Against India
Asaduddin Owaisi went beyond the immediate terror threat to discuss Pakistan’s broader goals, pointing out that the Pakistani deep state and military pursue an unwritten agenda aimed at destabilizing India’s economy and fomenting communal divisions. He stressed the importance of bringing India’s perspective on this conflict to the global stage.
The AIMIM leader also challenged Pakistan’s portrayal of itself as an Islamic state, stating that this narrative ignores India’s own substantial Muslim population of nearly 20 crore people living peacefully. He emphasized that India must assert its story to counter Pakistan’s misleading image.
Reflecting on history, Asaduddin Owaisi noted that Pakistan’s attempts to destabilize India began soon after independence in 1947 with tribal invasions into Jammu and Kashmir and that such efforts have been ongoing ever since. However, he added that India’s patience finally ran out following the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
Asaduddin Owaisi concluded that by supporting, arming, and financing terrorists, Pakistan has become a danger not only to India but to humanity at large, reinforcing the urgent need for international awareness and response.
