Apple has officially launched its latest iMac in India, powered by the advanced M4 chip. The new iMac features a sleek, ultra-thin design and offers significant performance improvements, with Apple claiming it to be up to 1.7 times faster for daily tasks and up to 2.1 times faster for demanding workflows like photo editing and gaming compared to its predecessor, the M1 iMac. Along with enhanced speed, the M4 iMac integrates Apple Intelligence, designed to transform how users work, communicate, and express themselves, while maintaining a high standard of privacy.
The M4 iMac is available in multiple vibrant colors, including green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver. It boasts a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, now offering a nano-texture glass option to reduce reflections and glare while maintaining exceptional image quality. This makes the iMac suitable for a variety of environments, from bright storefronts to sun-drenched living rooms.
The base model starts at Rs 1,34,900 and Rs 1,24,900 for education users. It features an 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 16GB of unified memory (configurable up to 24GB), and a 256GB SSD (configurable up to 1TB). It also includes two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, a Magic Keyboard, and the choice of a Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad. For those seeking more power, the 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU version starts at Rs 1,54,900 (Rs 1,44,900 for education), with 16GB of unified memory (configurable up to 32GB) and a 256GB SSD (configurable up to 2TB). It comes with four Thunderbolt 4 ports and a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID.
Apple highlights the M4 chip’s performance boost, featuring the world’s fastest CPU core and an advanced GPU that allows for smoother multitasking, faster gaming, and better photo editing experiences. With the M4’s Neural Engine, Apple claims the iMac is now the best all-in-one for AI, enhancing both productivity and privacy. The system also includes a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera with Desk View, offering unique features for video calls, such as keeping users centered and providing a top-down view of their workspace.
Running on macOS Sequoia, the new iMac offers features like iPhone Mirroring, a redesigned Safari, and Personalised Spatial Audio. Apple’s updated Siri and integrated Writing Tools allow users to refine text, proofread, and access ChatGPT without the need to switch between apps. Apple Intelligence enhances the user experience by combining generative AI with privacy protections, allowing users to interact seamlessly while keeping their data secure.
The new iMac is available for pre-order starting today, with availability beginning on November 8, 2024.
