In a significant development, police in Haryana have detained another suspect in connection with the recent firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai. The detainee is believed to have ties to one of the two individuals previously arrested in connection with the case.
According to officials, the detained individual had ongoing communication with the arrested suspects both before and after the incident. The detainee is suspected of receiving instructions from Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who purportedly claimed responsibility for the attack on social media.
The probe into the incident has indicated the involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in orchestrating the attack. Two suspects, identified as Vicky Sahab Gupta, 24, and Sagar Shrijogendra Pal, 21, were apprehended in Bhuj, Gujarat, early on Tuesday for their roles in the firing incident on April 14.
Investigations revealed that the arrested individuals, originally from Bihar, maintained communication with the detained suspect, using internet-based platforms to coordinate their movements. Pal and Gupta fled Mumbai for Bhuj following the shooting, where they changed their mobile phone’s SIM card to evade detection.
Despite attempts to evade law enforcement by frequently switching off their phones, investigators were able to trace their communications through consistent use of the same number. Subsequently, the additional suspect was located and detained in Haryana before being transported to Mumbai for interrogation. However, the detainee has yet to be formally arrested.
Previous statements from the police suggested that Pal and Gupta were paid approximately Rs 1 lakh for their role in the shooting and were promised further compensation upon completion of the task. The investigation into the incident continues as authorities seek to unravel the full extent of the conspiracy and bring all perpetrators to justice.
