Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu held a significant virtual meeting on Tuesday with high-ranking officials from Google and YouTube, including YouTube CEO Neal Mohan and Google’s Asia Pacific President Sanjay Gupta. The discussions focused on advancing the state’s technological landscape through several key initiatives.
The meeting, which included YouTube Vice President Leslie Miller, Google India’s Managing Director for Government Affairs and Public Policy Sreenivasa Reddy, and Union Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, centered on the establishment of a YouTube Academy in Amaravati. This initiative aims to boost digital infrastructure, enhance skill development, and leverage technology to improve governance in the state.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Andhra Pradesh is on a trajectory to become India’s digital epicenter. We are excited about the opportunities to collaborate with global leaders like Google and YouTube.”
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) is expected to be signed between the Andhra Pradesh government and Google under the initiative “AI for Andhra Pradesh, Powered by Google.” This partnership will focus on applying artificial intelligence in various sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, and sustainability. It will also support skill development, foster startup ecosystems, and enhance MSME support through digital credit and AI-driven governance.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu took to social media to highlight the meeting, posting, “Delighted to connect with @YouTube Global CEO, Mr. @nealmohan, and @Google APAC Head, Mr. Sanjay Gupta. We discussed setting up a YouTube Academy in Andhra Pradesh to promote AI, content development, and skill certification programs. We also explored technical support for the Media City initiative in Amaravati.”
The collaboration between Andhra Pradesh and these tech giants signifies a major step towards leveraging global technology for state development and positioning Andhra Pradesh as a leader in digital innovation.
