At the Rising Bharat Summit 2025, Union Home Minister Amit Shah took a cautious stance on potential political alliances in Punjab, stating that predicting the state’s electoral future is nearly impossible. In a light-hearted remark, Amit Shah said even Brahma, the creator in Hindu mythology, could not foresee the outcome of Punjab elections. While refraining from confirming whether the BJP would ally with Akali Dal, he expressed hope that voters would ensure a stable majority government in the upcoming polls.
Amit Shah emphasized that the BJP’s aim was to bring lasting peace and development to Punjab. He voiced confidence in the electorate’s wisdom to choose stability over fragmented mandates, avoiding a direct comment on any ongoing alliance talks.
Rising Threats and National Integrity
When questioned about the recent surge in Khalistani activities, Amit Shah acknowledged that while maintaining law and order falls under the state government’s jurisdiction, the Union government will act decisively against any threat to national unity. He assured that the Centre would not allow any disruptive forces to undermine India’s integrity, declaring a zero-tolerance approach to separatist movements.
He underlined the seriousness with which the Modi-led government views internal security threats and said that any individual or group attempting to challenge the country’s sovereignty would face strict action.
Firm Stance on Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir
Touching upon the sensitive issue of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Amit Shah reiterated the Indian government’s longstanding position. He said that PoK is an integral part of India, a view not just rooted in sentiment but supported by historical documents and legal claims.
“Our stance has always been clear. PoK belongs to India. It is not just a claim; it is a belief backed by legal and historical facts,” Amit Shah said, adding that the government remains committed to this position on international platforms.
During the wide-ranging conversation with Network18 Group Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi, Amit Shah also addressed topics such as the Waqf Amendment Bills, the situation in Manipur, and the recent extradition of 26/11 convict Tahawwur Rana. His remarks offered a glimpse into the BJP’s broader national strategy ahead of key state and general elections.
