In a recent statement, cricketer Ambati Rayudu predicted the possibility of temples being built for MS Dhoni in Chennai, hailing the former Indian captain as the “God of Chennai”. Ambati Rayudu’s comments came after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured a decisive 5-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing IPL 2024 season at the Chepauk stadium.
Ambati Rayudu emphasized MS Dhoni’s significant contributions to both Indian cricket and CSK, suggesting that temples dedicated to the cricketing legend may become a reality in Chennai in the future. Despite the win, CSK’s playoff berth in the IPL 2024 remained uncertain, standing at third place in the points table with 14 points from 13 games and a net run rate of +0.528.
Reflecting on MS Dhoni’s illustrious career, Ambati Rayudu highlighted the multiple IPL and Champions League T20 titles the former skipper has secured, alongside leading India to victory in two World Cup tournaments. He praised MS Dhoni’s leadership and unwavering commitment to the team, country, and CSK.
Following CSK’s triumph over RR, MS Dhoni and the team celebrated with a victory lap at the Chepauk, expressing gratitude to the fans for their unwavering support throughout the season. The fervent crowd reciprocated their appreciation for Dhoni and the CSK squad.
Looking ahead, CSK is set to face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) led by Faf du Plessis on Saturday, May 18, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
