Islamabad, 21 Aug : Pashtun Tahfuz Andolan leader Ali Vazeer and Human Rights lawyer Iman Hazir Mazari were remanded to three-day police custody by an Anti-terrorist Court in Pakistan. According to the media reports the prosecutor charged them with blasphemy, issuing threats and instigating people. The prosecution demanded police custody for ten days. The court, however, allowed police custody for three days only.
The three were arrested on Sunday. Imaan’S mother Shireen, a leader of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had alleged that police in plain clothes abducted her daughter. She was arrested for ‘interfering in official work’. The Human Right Commission of Pakistan has condemned Imaan’s arrest and demanded her immediate unconditional release. Her arrest by the police without any warrant was against the freedom of expression, the Commission has alleged.
