The Karnataka Police issued a notice to a woman Sub-Inspector on Wednesday after actor Pavithra Gowda, the partner of jailed Kannada superstar Darshan Thoogudeepa, was seen wearing makeup while in police custody. Pavithra, the prime accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, was taken to her Bengaluru residence to record details of the crime scene. During her visit, she was observed applying lipstick and makeup, smiling as she returned with police officials.
The visuals sparked a debate about Pavithra Gowda’s perceived lack of remorse over the murder of Darshan’s fan, Renukaswamy. In response, a notice was issued to the Sub-Inspector from the office of the DCP (West) for negligence, seeking clarification.
DCP (West) Girish stated, “Pavithra used to stay at her home every night where she had probably kept her makeup bag. The lady PSI used to go there every morning to pick her up and take her to AP Nagar police station. The lady PSI could have observed this and stopped Pavithra from doing that. For this negligence, she has been issued a notice for explanation.”
Background of the Case
Pavithra Gowda is accused number one in the case, allegedly the instigator, while Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa is accused number two, allegedly executing the murder. Police sources revealed that Renukaswamy, a fan of the actor, had sent obscene messages to Pavithra, which enraged Darshan and allegedly led to the murder plot. Renukaswamy’s body was discovered near a storm-water drain next to an apartment in Sumanahalli on June 9. He was allegedly tortured to death on June 8.
Arrests and Ongoing Investigation
Darshan, Pavithra, and 15 others have been arrested in connection with the case and are currently in judicial custody. According to sources, one of the accused, Raghavendra, a member of Darshan’s fan club in Chitradurga, brought Renukaswamy to a shed in R R Nagar, Bengaluru, under the pretense that Darshan wanted to meet him. It was in this shed that Renukaswamy was allegedly tortured and killed.
