Police investigating the death of Renukaswamy, a devoted fan of popular Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, have seized crucial evidence from the actor’s residence in Bengaluru’s upscale RR Nagar. The investigation report, reviewed by India Today, reveals significant developments in the case.
Following Darshan’s initial claim that the clothes he wore on the night of the alleged murder were at his residence, police escorted him there late Friday night to avoid media attention. Initially, Darshan directed them to a laundry basket, but the clothes were not found. A further search led to the discovery of the clothes washed and hung out to dry on the terrace. Darshan explained that his house help may have washed them while doing the laundry.
In addition to the clothes, police seized shoes from Darshan’s wife’s house and obtained CCTV footage from his residence, all of which have been taken as evidence.
Autopsy report: Renukaswamy died of shock and hemorrhage
An autopsy revealed that Renukaswamy was brutally attacked and died “due to shock and hemorrhage as a result of multiple blunt injuries sustained.” The post-mortem report also indicated that Renukaswamy was kicked and suffered a ruptured testicle. Furthermore, it was revealed that Renukaswamy was given electric shocks prior to his death. Details of the alleged torture were disclosed by an accomplice during questioning after his arrest, according to sources.
Arrests and investigation
Darshan, along with his former co-star and friend Pavithra Gowda and 15 others, have been arrested in connection with the case. The incident reportedly stemmed from offensive messages sent by Renukaswamy to Gowda on social media, which angered the actor.
Police sources informed the news agency PTI that one of the accused, Raghavendra, a member of Darshan’s fan club, lured Renukaswamy to a shed in RR Nagar under the pretext of arranging a meeting with the actor. It was at this location that Renukaswamy was allegedly tortured and killed.
Darshan, widely known as the “Challenging Star” in Kannada cinema, and his associates remain in police custody as the investigation continues. The case has shocked the Kannada film industry and fans alike, raising serious questions about the events leading to Renukaswamy’s tragic death.
