Telugu superstar Allu Arjun finds himself embroiled in legal and political controversies following a police complaint by Congress leader Theenmar Mallanna over a scene in his upcoming film Pushpa 2: The Rule. The complaint, lodged at the Medipalli police station in Telangana, also names the film’s director Sukumar and its producers, accusing them of insulting the police force.
The contentious scene depicts Allu Arjun’s character urinating in a swimming pool in the presence of a police officer, which Mallanna has described as “disrespectful” and degrading to law enforcement. He has demanded strict action against the filmmakers, alleging that the scene tarnishes the image of the police.
This legal dispute comes in the wake of a tragic incident during the film’s premiere at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre on December 4. A stampede at the event led to the death of a woman and left her eight-year-old son critically injured. The police had reportedly denied permission for the event, yet Allu Arjun attended, leading to his arrest. Although he was later released on bail, the Telangana Police has issued a fresh notice requiring him to appear for questioning on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
Adding to the turmoil, violent protests erupted outside Allu Arjun’s residence on Sunday. Demonstrators threw tomatoes and vandalized property, turning the issue into a political battleground. Opposition parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), have criticized the ruling Congress government for its handling of the situation. They allege that some of the protesters have ties to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s Kodangal constituency. Six individuals, reportedly students from Osmania University, have been arrested in connection with the attack.
The woman’s husband, Bhaskar, who had initially blamed the actor for the stampede, has now hinted at withdrawing his case. However, the multiple controversies surrounding Allu Arjun have turned into a political flashpoint, with opposition parties and ruling factions trading accusations over their responses to the incidents.
As the actor gears up for further legal scrutiny and grapples with the political fallout, Pushpa 2 remains at the center of public and media attention. The controversies have not only impacted Allu Arjun’s reputation but have also raised questions about event management, public safety, and freedom of expression in the film industry.
