A health crisis has unfolded at Ghaziabad’s Saya Gold Avenue Society as hundreds of residents reportedly fell ill after consuming contaminated water. Concerns over water quality have escalated, prompting intervention from the health department, which has initiated investigations and provided initial medical assistance to affected individuals.
Residents have reported widespread instances of illness, including symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and fever, affecting both adults and children over several days. Complaints regarding water quality were allegedly raised with society authorities and the builder previously, but residents claim no effective action was taken.
Residents have been expressing frustration over the lack of adequate services despite substantial maintenance payments. They have also highlighted issues with dysfunctional elevators and alleged threats from the builder when grievances were voiced.
Furthermore, residents claimed initial resistance from society authorities to allow health department intervention, alleging interference and intimidation tactics. However, health department officials have confirmed the collection of water samples and the provision of primary medical treatment to those affected.
In response to the ongoing health crisis, health department officials, accompanied by a team of doctors, have announced plans to establish a health camp on the society premises for two days. This initiative aims to provide continued medical support while awaiting the results of water sample analyses.
