The Youth Congress staged a protest on Thursday outside the residence of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, alleging irregularities in the conduct of NEET and NET examinations. Demanding immediate cancellation of the exams, they highlighted concerns over what they termed as a “paper leak” affecting lakhs of students.
Srinivas BV, National President of Youth Congress, accused Dharmendra Pradhan of downplaying the severity of the issue and called for his resignation. “Students are expressing their frustration on social media – ‘Once again, government leakage’,” he asserted, emphasizing the impact on students and the nation’s future.
Mohammed Shahid, National Secretary of Youth Congress, echoed these sentiments, criticizing the prevalence of corruption in such critical exams and questioning the integrity of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The Indian Youth Congress urged the central government to swiftly address the examination-related grievances, urging Supreme Court-monitored investigations to ensure justice for affected students.
During the demonstration, Delhi Police detained several Youth Congress members. Meanwhile, Minister Dharmendra Pradhan acknowledged the UGC-NET paper leak as an “institutional failure” and announced measures to overhaul the examination system. He assured that deserving NEET candidates would not be disadvantaged due to the malpractice.
Addressing concerns, Dharmendra Pradhan appealed to opposition parties to refrain from politicizing the issue and pledged strict action against those responsible, including senior officials of the NTA.
