In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, 4 candidates, all aged 25, are poised to become the youngest Members of Parliament (MPs) after securing victory in their respective constituencies. Pushpendra Saroj and Priya Saroj contested on the Samajwadi Party’s ticket, while Shambhavi Choudhary and Sanjana Jatav represented the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and the Congress respectively.

Shambhavi Choudhary:
Shambhavi Choudhary, daughter of Ashok Choudhary, a minister in the Nitish Kumar cabinet in Bihar, emerged victorious from the Samastipur constituency. She defeated her closest competitor, Sunny Hazari of the Congress, by a significant margin. Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded Shambhavi Choudhary as the youngest NDA candidate during a campaign rally.
Sanjana Jatav:
Sanjana Jatav secured victory from the Bharatpur constituency in Rajasthan, defeating BJP’s Ramswaroop Koli by 51,983 votes. Despite a previous loss in the 2023 Assembly elections, Sanjana Jatav’s perseverance paid off. She is married to Kaptan Singh, a constable in the Rajasthan police.
Pushpendra and Priya Saroj:
Pushpendra Saroj, contesting from the Kaushambi parliamentary seat on the SP ticket, emerged triumphant by defeating incumbent BJP MP Vinod Kumar Sonkar by a considerable margin of 103,944 votes. He is the son of five-time MLA and former Uttar Pradesh Minister Inderjit Saroj.
Priya Saroj secured victory from the Machhlishahr seat by defeating sitting BJP MP Bholanath with a margin of 35,850 votes. She is the daughter of three-time MP Toofani Saroj.
The election results have highlighted the emergence of young leaders in Indian politics, offering a fresh perspective and representing the aspirations of the youth. These four MPs, with their remarkable achievements at a young age, are poised to make significant contributions to the nation’s governance and development.
