If Hindus are safe, Muslims are safe: Yogi Adityanath has emphasized the safety and security of people from all religions in the state, stating that if Hindus are safe, Muslims are also safe. In a recent interview with ANI, Yogi Adityanath expressed that he is a “Yogi” who desires the well-being of all, asserting that religious tolerance is fundamental in Uttar Pradesh.
Yogi Adityanath further highlighted that the state has seen no communal riots since the BJP came to power in 2017. Yogi Adityanath’s remarks underline his belief that if Hindus are safe, Muslims will be safe too, citing examples of religious harmony under his administration.
Yogi Adityanath spoke about the historical and cultural significance of Hinduism, particularly Sanatan Dharma, and how it has never been a religion that sought to dominate or convert others. He stated that there is no record in world history of Hindu rulers establishing dominion over other nations, emphasizing that followers of Sanatan Dharma have coexisted peacefully with other faiths. His remarks on the safety of Muslims were also pointed, as he stressed that Muslim families have the freedom to practice their religion without fear in Uttar Pradesh. He contrasted this with the situations in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, where Hindus have faced violence and oppression.
Since the BJP’s rise to power, Yogi Adityanath claimed, there has been a significant reduction in communal violence, citing the absence of riots that previously plagued the state. He pointed out that before 2017, both Hindu and Muslim communities suffered due to communal tensions, but his government’s policies had effectively curbed such violence. This commitment to peace, he explained, is rooted in his deep belief in supporting everyone’s development and happiness, regardless of religion.
The Uttar Pradesh CM also took a jab at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, calling his actions beneficial for the BJP. Yogi Adityanath criticized Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Abhiyaan as being counterproductive, labeling it as “Bharat Todo Abhiyan.” He also questioned the Congress party’s stance on critical issues like the Ayodhya dispute, triple talaq, and infrastructure development, alleging that their neglect of these issues had hindered national progress.
On the issue of religious sites and places of worship, Yogi Adityanath reiterated his government’s commitment to protecting Hindu heritage, particularly through ongoing legal battles such as the one in Sambhal, where a mosque is alleged to be built on the ruins of a Hindu temple. He further stated that any such structures would be addressed in due course, following scientific evidence.
