A woman passenger bound for Mumbai found herself in legal trouble after allegedly biting an airline ground crew member during a tumultuous incident at Lucknow airport, leading to her being booked by local authorities.
The altercation unfolded on Tuesday evening as passengers prepared to board flight QP 1525, scheduled for departure at 5:25 p.m. According to reports, tensions escalated when the woman engaged in a heated argument with fellow passengers after boarding the flight. Attempts by the flight crew to defuse the situation proved futile as the woman reportedly continued to exhibit erratic behavior.
Shailendra Giri, Station House Officer (SHO) of Sarojini Nagar police station, explained, “The woman appeared stressed and not in a sound state of mind. Following her disturbance on board, the airline ground staff intervened to deboard her from the aircraft.” It was during this process that the situation took a physical turn, with the woman allegedly biting a male crew member on the wrist.
Subsequently, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was summoned to manage the incident, and the woman was brought to the Sarojini Nagar police station for legal proceedings. An FIR (First Information Report) was filed against her under IPC Sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (breach of peace).
Authorities revealed that the woman, originally from Agra but residing in Mumbai, had traveled to Lucknow to visit her sister. Following the lodging of the FIR, she was released into the custody of her relatives.
Incidents of passenger misconduct aboard flights have increasingly drawn attention, highlighting the challenges faced by airlines and airport authorities in maintaining order and safety during air travel.
This case underscores the legal consequences that can arise from disruptive behavior in airports and serves as a reminder of the importance of adherence to aviation regulations and protocols.
The Lucknow police continue to investigate the incident, aiming to ensure accountability for the reported assault on the airline crew member.
