Vishwanath Temple
Located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, the Kashi Vishwanath Temple is famous worldwide. It is often referred to as the ‘Town of Bholenath’ (the place of Lord Shiva’s grace). According to historians, the present structure of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple was built in 1780 by the late Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar of Indore. The two domes of the temple were covered with gold by Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Punjab. However, the third dome still remains uncovered.
