New Delhi [India], June 5 (ANI): BJP candidate from Begusarai Giriraj Singh on Wednesday stated that many countries are running coalition governments and that the BJP has been doing it even despite attaining a majority previously.

“There are a total of 56 countries in the world that are running coalition government. We were running a coalition government, even though we got the majority earlier, but we were running a coalition government in which Ram Vilas Paswan was there, Shiv Sena was there, Pashupati Paras was there, we were running a coalition government and will run a coalition government in future too,” said the victorious BJP candidate from Begusarai.

Meanwhile, he also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for being unanimously elected as the leader of NDA for the third consecutive term.

Taking to X, he wrote, “Heartiest congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on being unanimously elected as the leader of NDA for the third consecutive term! Under his successful leadership, NDA has given concrete shape to ‘Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat-Atmanirbhar Bharat’ while ensuring development and heritage conservation. We are committed to ‘Developed India’ for all 140 crore citizens.”

Earlier in the day, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) unanimously passed a resolution to elect Narendra Modi as their leader. Twenty-one NDA leaders signed a letter to elect Narendra Modi as their leader during a key meeting held at his official residence in Delhi.

Also, a meeting of the opposition coalition, INDIA bloc, is convened in Delhi on Wednesday evening. INC president Mallikarjun Kharge said that leaders of the alliance will be meeting to discuss the election results and strategy thereafter.

Notably, the counting of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was held on Tuesday. The Election Commission of India has declared the results of the 543 Lok Sabha constituencies, with the BJP winning 240 seats and the Congress 99.

The BJP fell 32 seats short of the 272 majority mark after votes polled in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections were counted. For the first time, since the Bharatiya Janata Party swept to power in 2014, it did not secure a majority on its own. (ANI)
