The Delhi Police have apprehended an engineer-turned-YouTuber, identified as Aryan Rajvansh, for allegedly robbing a 38-year-old cab driver at gunpoint and injuring him in the process. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, June 23, when Aryan Rajvansh hired a cab from Dwarka Mor to Kashmere Gate ISBT.
According to police reports, Aryan Rajvansh brandished a gun during the journey, held cab driver Kulbhushan Sharma hostage, and robbed him of his mobile phone. When Sharma attempted to escape as they approached a fuel station due to low fuel, Aryan Rajvansh shot him in the hip before fleeing the scene. Local residents rushed Sharma to AIIMS for medical treatment and alerted the authorities.
A case was promptly filed by the Delhi Police under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act, leading to an investigation. Through technical surveillance, Aryan Rajvansh was traced to Ayodhya, where he was subsequently arrested during a raid at his residence.
During interrogation, Aryan Rajvansh disclosed that he had traveled to Delhi to retrieve his belongings from a friend’s place in Dwarka. Facing financial difficulties, he resorted to robbing the cab driver to alleviate his financial crunch.
Further details emerged about Aryan Rajvansh’s background, revealing that he had completed his BTech in computer science from a private college in Tamil Nadu. Initially pursuing a career as a rapper, Aryan Rajvansh released songs on social media but struggled to achieve success and encountered financial setbacks. He had also faced issues with a studio he opened in Delhi, which led to its closure following disputes with the owner.
Police sources indicated that Aryan Rajvansh acquired a firearm to intimidate an individual involved in his disputes and subsequently used it during the robbery due to his dire financial circumstances.
The Delhi Police continue their investigation into the case, focusing on gathering additional evidence and ensuring legal proceedings against Aryan Rajvansh for his alleged criminal activities.
