Legendary Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram revealed Virat Kohli’s chase strategy while doing commentary for the Pakistan vs Ireland game in the T20 world cup 2024. Notably, Pakistan once again made a mess of their chase in pursuit of a low target of 107 as they lost six wickets for 62 runs.
However, captain Babar Azam saw his team home with his gritty innings of 32* (34) along with valuable contributions from Abbas Afridi (17 off 21) and Shaheen Afridi (13* off 5). while doing commentary during Pakistan’s innings, Wasim Akram revealed that he recently met Virat Kohli on a flight and former india cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu asked Virat Kohli to reveal his strategy.“I bat according to the wicket. If it’s a flat wicket I know I have to hit boundaries. If it’s a difficult wicket to bat on I know I have to take twos to take the strike. I don’t plan anything beforehand. Once I’m on the crease, then I decide what I have to do according to the situation,” said Virat Kohli to Wasim Akram as revealed by him on air.
Listening to Wasim Akram’s comments, commentator Harsha Bhogle mentioned the fact that a player has to be as fit as Virat Kohli to regularly run twos in t20 cricket, which is mostly unheard of in the format.
“The twos are a less spoken option in t20 cricket and on warm humid days, if you got to keep running twos, you got to be as fit as kohli is,” said Bhogle on air.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli hasn’t been in the best of form in the ongoing world cup, having scored just five runs from three innings in the tournament so far. The 35-year-old scored 1 (5) against Ireland, 4 (3) vs Pakistan and 0 (1) vs USA. The star batter is the highest run-scorer in the history of the tournament with 1146 runs to his name from 28 innings at an average of 67.41 and a strike rate of 130.52 with 14 half-centuries.
The star batter has won two player of the tournament awards back-to-back in the 2014 and 2016 editions. with the super 8 stages beginning in a few days, india hope that kohli finally gets amongst the runs in his new role as an opener.
