Two viral videos depicting instances of verbal abuse and intimidation by officers of Canara Bank and Bandhan Bank towards their junior employees have ignited a wave of outrage on social media platforms. The clips, which surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), showcase officers using foul language and pressuring staff members over failing to meet targets, prompting discussions on workplace ethics and employee well-being.
In the first video, Canara Bank officer Lokapati Swain is seen berating employees for prioritizing personal time over work commitments. He is heard shouting and demanding excessive work hours, including holidays, while disregarding their family obligations. Canara Bank responded to the incident, emphasizing that the bank values the contributions of its employees and families and does not endorse such individual behaviors. The bank assured that appropriate action would be taken.
In the second video, a Bandhan Bank officer, Kunal Bhardwaj, is captured shouting at a junior employee for not meeting monthly targets. Despite the employee’s apology and assurance to rectify the mistake, Kunal Bhardwaj continues to use abusive language and question the employee’s shame. Bandhan Bank acknowledged the incident, condemning the behavior and initiating necessary actions in line with the bank’s policy.
However, social media users expressed outrage over the incidents, criticizing the toxic work culture and lack of action against such behavior. Users highlighted concerns about employee harassment and questioned the efficacy of the banks’ policies in addressing workplace issues.
The videos have sparked widespread condemnation and calls for accountability, underscoring the importance of fostering a healthy and respectful work environment in the banking sector.
