Venezuela no longer has a single glacier. In modern times, all the glaciers in Venezuela have melted. This information was provided by the International Cryosphere Climate Initiative (ICCI), which noted that Venezuela is the only country where this has happened. Glacier Humboldt, also known as La Corona, has almost completely melted, with its area reduced to less than 2 hectares from its original 450 hectares. This remaining ice should be called an ice field rather than a glacier because ice fields larger than 10 hectares and thicker than 100 cm are typically categorized as glaciers. Apart from Venezuela, this situation could soon be seen in Indonesia, Mexico, and Slovenia. This is alarming for the entire world, including India. Although India currently has around 16,600 glaciers, we can take small steps to save the environment and learn from the experiences of other countries.
