Following the Bhartiya Janata Party’s (BJP) unsatisfactory performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called for an urgent meeting with all ministers. The meeting, aimed at reviewing departmental work and addressing public feedback, is scheduled for today at Lok Bhawan. This move comes in the wake of a significant electoral setback for the BJP, which saw a reduction in its seat count compared to previous elections.

  • Electoral Performance: The BJP secured only 33 seats, significantly lower than the 62 and 71 seats won in the 2014 and 2019 elections, respectively.
  • Opposition Gains: The INDIA bloc, led by Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav and Congress’ Rahul Gandhi, performed remarkably, with SP winning 37 seats and Congress securing six.
  • Resumption of ‘Janta Darshan’: CM Yogi announced the resumption of ‘Janta Darshan’, allowing public interactions from 9 am to 2 pm daily to address grievances immediately.
