The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has taken a crucial step in the process of conducting the Civil Services preliminary examination for the year 2024 by releasing the admit cards for aspiring candidates. This pivotal document is now available for download on the official website of the commission, namely upsc.gov.in or upsconline.nic.in.

As per the announcement, candidates who have successfully registered for the examination are urged to promptly access their admit cards, with the deadline for this task set at June 16, 2024. It is imperative to note that possession of the e-Admit Card, along with an original photo identity card, is mandatory for entry into the examination venue. Furthermore, candidates are advised to safeguard their admit cards until the final results of the Civil Services Examination, 2024, are declared.

The UPSC has provided clear instructions regarding the timing of the examination, emphasizing that entry into the examination venue will be barred 30 minutes prior to the scheduled commencement of the exam. This stringent measure aims to ensure the smooth and timely conduct of the examination process.

Significantly, the Civil Services Preliminary Examination for the year 2024 is slated to take place on June 16, 2024. It is noteworthy that the examination date has been revised from its initial scheduling on May 26, a decision prompted by the occurrence of Lok Sabha elections during April-June 2024.

In terms of vacancies, the UPSC has announced a total of 1,056 vacancies for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) and 150 vacancies for the Indian Forest Service (IFoS). Notably, this allocation marks a decrease from the previous year’s vacancies, indicating potential adjustments in organizational requirements and priorities.

It is imperative for candidates to acquaint themselves with the examination pattern and structure. The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination comprises two papers of objective type, with each paper carrying a maximum of 400 marks. Additionally, candidates must be cognizant of the presence of negative marking for incorrect responses in the Objective Type Question Papers, underscoring the importance of strategic answering.

The release of admit cards heralds the commencement of a crucial phase in the Civil Services Examination process. Candidates are urged to adhere to the stipulated guidelines and prepare diligently for the upcoming examination, thereby maximizing their chances of success in this esteemed evaluation.
