Two teenagers tragically lost their lives in Raebareli district of Uttar Pradesh after they drowned in the Ganga river while attempting to take selfies on a boat. The incident occurred at the Payagpur Ganga Ghat where three friends, identified as Tauheed (17), Fahad (19), and Shaan (18), had gathered.
According to Circle Officer Arun Kumar, the friends had boarded a boat with the intention of capturing selfies. However, tragedy struck when Tauheed and Shaan, while posing for photos, moved towards the edge of the boat and accidentally lost their balance. They fell into the strong currents of the Ganga river and were swept away before Fahad could rescue himself by swimming ashore.
Following the incident, divers were immediately deployed to search for Tauheed and Shaan. After several hours of intense search efforts, their lifeless bodies were recovered from the river on Sunday. The bodies have since been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
This unfortunate event has cast a shadow over the local community in Raebareli, prompting authorities to issue warnings about the dangers of risky behavior while near water bodies, especially in monsoon season when river currents can be unpredictable and dangerous.
