Two individuals, accused of being involved in the crude bomb blast outside rapper Badshah’s club in Chandigarh, were arrested on Friday evening following an encounter in Haryana’s Hisar district. The incident, which occurred during a joint operation by Chandigarh police and the Haryana Special Task Force (STF), led to both suspects being shot in the leg and subsequently taken into custody. They were then rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Vinay, aged 20, and Ajit Sehrawat, 21, both residents of Hisar. According to police reports, both individuals had been previously linked to a criminal case. The arrests came after the police received specific intelligence regarding the suspects’ whereabouts in Hisar. A team from the Chandigarh police, in coordination with the Haryana STF, swiftly moved to the location. When authorities attempted to apprehend the suspects, they resisted and opened fire at the police, prompting an exchange of gunfire. The two suspects were injured during the encounter and arrested thereafter.
In the course of the exchange, two police officials – Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sandeep and ASI Anoop – were shot at. Fortunately, both officers were protected by bulletproof jackets and escaped serious injury. Following the encounter, the suspects were apprehended and taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The bomb blast outside Badshah’s club in Chandigarh occurred on November 26. The explosion, which targeted the Seville Bar and Lounge, owned by the popular singer and rapper, as well as the De Orra Club, owned by local businessmen, resulted in shattered windows at both establishments. CCTV footage from the scene showed a man hurling crude bombs at the clubs before fleeing the area. Despite the damage, no injuries were reported.
Shortly after the blast, a Canada-based gangster named Goldy Brar, who is linked to notorious criminal Lawrence Bishnoi, took responsibility for the explosions. In a Facebook post, Brar, along with his accomplice Rohit Godara, claimed to have carried out the bombings. The post alleged that both club owners had been contacted for “protection money” but had ignored the demands. In retaliation, Brar and Godara reportedly orchestrated the blasts as a warning to others who might refuse similar extortion demands.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities are continuing to piece together details of the blast and the motives behind it.
