Changes in the Scheme as of 2024

As of 2024, the Namo Drone Didis initiative has undergone notable enhancements to further bolster its impact on women’s economic empowerment and agricultural productivity. One of the key revisions includes the provision of drones to 15,000 women-led Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for agricultural purposes, aiming to revolutionize farming practices in rural areas across the country.

About the Scheme

The Namo Drone Didis initiative, launched on 28th November 2023 under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeks to empower rural women by equipping them with drone technology for agricultural activities. Through this initiative, women-led SHGs are provided with drones to facilitate tasks such as crop monitoring, pesticide spraying, and seed sowing, thereby modernizing agricultural practices and enhancing productivity.

The scheme also encompasses comprehensive training programs aimed at enabling selected women to become proficient drone pilots. This training not only imparts technical skills but also fosters leadership qualities, thereby empowering women to play a more active role in decision-making processes related to agriculture and income generation.

Benefits of the Scheme

1. Economic Empowerment: By providing women with access to drone technology and training opportunities, the scheme enables them to actively participate in agricultural activities, leading to increased income generation and financial independence.

2. Agricultural Productivity: The use of drones for crop monitoring and application of fertilizers facilitates precision agriculture, resulting in higher yields, reduced wastage, and improved crop management practices.

3. Skill Development: The training programs offered under the scheme not only equip women with technical skills but also enhance their overall capabilities, thereby opening up avenues for employment and entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector.

4. Gender Inclusivity: By prioritizing the inclusion of women-led SHGs, the initiative promotes gender equality and women’s empowerment in rural communities, fostering a more equitable and inclusive agricultural landscape.
