Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau underscored the gravity of the situation, stating that officials are “taking this extraordinarily seriously.” The White House also noted that President Joe Biden is closely monitoring the developments.
According to an official, the two deceased individuals were inside the vehicle at the time of the explosion. Authorities, not authorized to disclose investigative details publicly, spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Several videos displayed a fire in the vicinity of the US Customs and Border Protection, just east of the primary vehicle checkpoint. Despite attempts to contact the agency for comment, no spokesperson was available.
Eyewitness Mike Guenther recounted the incident, stating that a vehicle swerved to avoid another car, crashed into a fence, and subsequently exploded. Describing the intense scene, Guenther reported, “All of a sudden, he went up in the air, and then there was a ball of fire like 30 or 40 feet high. I never saw anything like it.”
The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission characterized the event as “a serious car crash,” leaving the community grappling with the aftermath of this tragic and unexpected incident at a key border crossing.
