During a global outreach under ‘Operation Sindoor’, Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee publicly accused Pakistan of supporting terrorism, citing visuals of Pakistani military officials attending funerals of declared terrorists. Speaking to the Indian diaspora in Singapore, he urged the international community to recognize the links between Pakistan’s military establishment and terror outfits. Abhishek Banerjee also underlined that despite political rivalries back home, national security remains a shared commitment across India’s political spectrum.
Citing Pakistani Generals at Terrorist Funerals
Abhishek Banerjee, who was part of an all-party parliamentary delegation visiting Singapore, questioned how any nation could deny Pakistan’s involvement in terrorism when military generals are seen at funerals of internationally recognized terrorists. “What more evidence do we need? These images are in the public domain,” he remarked, pointing out that such incidents would be inconceivable in any other country.
Emphasizing the power of public awareness, Abhishek Banerjee urged the diaspora to spread such truths globally, particularly through social media. He said that in today’s world, platforms like Twitter can often be more effective than formal diplomatic communication. “Twitter threads travel faster than diplomatic cables. We need to use every tool we have,” he stated.
All-Party Delegation Pushes United Front
The visit was part of a diplomatic outreach led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha and included representatives from BJP, TMC, CPI(M), and Congress, along with former diplomats. The team met Singapore’s foreign affairs minister, parliamentarians, and business leaders to present India’s unified stand against terrorism.
Jha, speaking alongside Abhishek Banerjee, made a scathing remark on Pakistan, saying its entire system—political and military—is centered around promoting terror. He emphasized that all Indian parties, despite political differences, are united in their resolve against cross-border terrorism.
The delegation also explained the rationale behind ‘Operation Sindoor’, a targeted military strike conducted on May 7 against nine terrorist launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The strike was in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists.
BJP MP Hemang Joshi reiterated India’s message of peace but warned that any act of terror would be seen as an act of war. Aparajita Sarangi from BJP further emphasized that the global perception was gradually aligning with India’s stance—that Pakistan’s so-called investigations are merely superficial.
The outreach aimed to underline India’s commitment to counterterrorism while ensuring international understanding of its strategic responses, backed by cross-party consensus.
