Ahead of its much-anticipated release on December 5, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule has made headlines for breaking records even before hitting theaters. The Andhra Pradesh government has approved a significant hike in the ticket prices for the film’s premiere shows and the first 13 days of its run. This marks a first in the Telugu film industry, as the film sets a new high for ticket prices in the state.
The premiere shows for Pushpa 2 are scheduled to take place on December 4 at 9:30 PM in select theaters across Telugu states. This approval came during a pre-release event held on December 2 at the Yousufguda Police Grounds in Hyderabad, where the film’s cast and crew gathered. The Andhra Pradesh government gave the green light to the producers’ request for the price hike, making Pushpa 2 the highest-priced Telugu film to date.
Tickets for the premiere show will be sold at a price of Rs 944, which includes GST, for both single screens and multiplexes. For the film’s release day, December 5, the ticket prices have also been adjusted, with single-screen tickets priced at Rs 324.50 and multiplex tickets at Rs 413. In a move to accommodate the film’s overwhelming demand, the government has also permitted theater owners to hold six shows on the release day, further boosting the film’s visibility.
From December 6 to December 17, ticket prices will remain the same, with a maximum of five shows allowed per day in theaters across the state. This price increase is a testament to the immense anticipation surrounding the movie.
Allu Arjun expressed his gratitude towards Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for supporting the request for the ticket price hike. He thanked them for their cooperation in ensuring that Pushpa 2 would be accessible to a large number of moviegoers while maintaining the premium experience for fans.
Earlier, the Telangana government had also approved a ticket price hike for Pushpa 2, with tickets for the premiere priced at Rs 1,200 and those for the release day capped at Rs 354 for single screens and Rs 531 for multiplexes. However, this hike has attracted criticism, with a petition being filed in the Telangana High Court, challenging the decision. The petition is set to be heard on December 3.
Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2: The Rule features Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil in pivotal roles. Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers, the film is expected to be one of the biggest blockbusters of 2024.
