A tragic accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Singrauli district resulted in the death of a three-year-old girl who fell into a 250-foot deep borewell on Monday evening. The incident occurred near Kasar village, approximately 40 kilometers from the district headquarters, as the young girl, identified as Shoumya, was playing in an agricultural field around 5 pm.
According to Bargawan police station inspector Shivpujan Mishra, Shoumya, daughter of Pintu Sahu, slipped into the borewell and got stuck at a depth of 25 feet. The rescue operation was immediately launched, with teams working for over five hours to retrieve the child from the borewell.
Despite the extensive efforts by the rescue teams, who successfully pulled Shoumya out of the borewell, she was found to be in critical condition. She was promptly transported to a local hospital where, after a thorough examination, she was declared dead by District Chief Medical and Health Officer NK Jain.
This heartbreaking incident underscores the dangers associated with uncovered borewells and the need for stringent safety measures to prevent such tragedies.
